Where to Eat in Al Wahda - La Quinta by Wyndham Abu Dhabi Al Wahda restaurants

Where to Eat in Al Wahda: Why Our Restaurants Are Worth Staying In For

We’ll be honest with you. A few months ago, we published a food guide that told you to walk out of our front door and eat in the neighbourhood — the karak stalls, the biryani spots, the midnight shawarma. We stand by every word of it.

But that guide only told half the story.

Because there are nights when walking out of the door is the wrong call. You’ve landed at 10pm. It’s 44°C in August. The kids are tired. You have a client dinner and you need a table where you can hear each other. You simply don’t want to make a decision about food tonight.

This is the other half of the guide: when staying in is the smarter move, and which of our restaurants fits which moment.

When eating in actually makes sense

Most hotel food guides try to convince you to never leave. We won’t. Here’s when the restaurants downstairs genuinely win.

  • You arrive late. After a flight or a long drive from Dubai, nobody wants to navigate a new neighbourhood at 11pm.
  • It’s summer. From June to September, a ten-minute walk in the midday heat isn’t charming. It’s punishing.
  • You’re travelling with family. Children, grandparents and a group of seven need space, a menu with choice for everyone, and a bathroom that isn’t a negotiation.
  • It’s a business meal. You need a quiet table, reliable service and somewhere you can put a laptop down.
  • It’s an occasion. Birthdays and anniversaries deserve a room that feels like an event, not a plastic chair on a pavement.
  • You want one less decision. Some evenings, this is the only reason you need.

Meet the kitchens

La Quinta by Wyndham Abu Dhabi Al Wahda has four places to eat and drink, and each one is built for a different kind of moment.

Jasmaine Restaurant — for breakfast and the everyday meal

Where: Mezzanine floor
Go here when: you want breakfast, a relaxed lunch, or dinner without ceremony

Jasmaine is the restaurant that runs from morning to night. It’s where the day starts — a generous breakfast spread with traditional favourites, international dishes and the sweet things you only allow yourself on holiday — and it’s where you come back to for a dependable meal at any hour.

Because it’s an all-day, multi-cuisine menu, Jasmaine is the answer for mixed groups. The person who wants a curry, the person who wants pasta and the person who just wants eggs can all order without anyone compromising.

Best for: breakfast, families with different tastes, solo travellers, working lunches.

Mellow Restaurant — for when the meal is the occasion

Go here when: you’re celebrating, hosting, or simply want to dine rather than eat

Mellow is our fine-dining room, serving international cuisine prepared with premium ingredients. What makes it different from most fine dining in Abu Dhabi is that it doesn’t ask you to be formal. It’s family-friendly by design — the kind of place where you can bring your parents for an anniversary dinner and your children won’t feel out of place.

If you’re near Al Wahda Mall and looking for a restaurant for a birthday, a family get-together or a dinner with a client you want to impress, this is the table to book.

Best for: special occasions, family gatherings, business dinners, couples.

Mirchi Club & Restaurant — for Indian food with energy

Go here when: you’re craving Indian food and want the evening to have some life in it

Abu Dhabi has no shortage of Indian restaurants, and Al Wahda has some of the best casual ones in the city. Mirchi is something different: an Indian resto-bar where traditional flavours meet a modern dining room, and where dinner can turn into a night out without anyone needing to move.

It’s the right choice for groups of friends, celebrations that want a bit of noise, and anyone who has been travelling for a week and simply needs a proper Indian meal.

Best for: groups, Indian food cravings, dinner that rolls into the evening.

Enigma Lounge — for the last course and the long conversation

Go here when: dinner is done but the evening isn’t

Enigma is our shisha lounge, with a curated selection of premium flavours, a menu of bites and refreshing drinks. It’s not a restaurant in the traditional sense, and that’s the point. It’s where you go after dinner to keep talking, or where you meet friends who’ve already eaten.

Best for: after-dinner conversation, light bites, catching up with friends.

A full day of eating — and where we’d tell you to go out

Staying in doesn’t have to mean never leaving. Here’s how we’d plan a day that uses both.

Breakfast — Jasmaine. Start slowly. This is the one meal where the hotel almost always beats the neighbourhood, simply because it’s already downstairs.

Lunch — go out. This is when we’d send you into Al Wahda. Midday is when the local Lebanese kitchens and South Asian restaurants are at their busiest and best, and Al Wahda Mall is a one-minute walk away if the heat is too much. Our neighbourhood food guide has the details.

Dinner — Mellow or Mirchi. By evening, you’ve walked enough. Book Mellow for a calmer dinner or Mirchi for a livelier one.

Late — Enigma. One more hour, one more conversation.

That’s a day that respects both the city and your energy levels.

Small things that make a big difference

  • Reserve on weekends. Thursday and Friday evenings are busy at Mellow and Mirchi. Book your table through our Restaurants & Club page.
  • Tell us about dietary needs. Vegetarian, vegan, allergies, a child who only eats plain rice — let the team know when you book or when you sit down.
  • Ask about Ramadan. During the holy month, our dining changes. We’ve hosted Iftar buffets, Iftar set menus and Suhoor in previous years — keep an eye on our Offers page as Ramadan approaches.
  • Check timings before you plan. Our outlets occasionally close for maintenance or change hours around holidays, and we always post updates on the Restaurants & Club page.

Good food, one lift ride away

The best thing about staying in Al Wahda is that you get both. A real neighbourhood with real food on one side of the door, and four very different restaurants on the other.

Some nights you’ll want the street. Some nights you’ll want a table that’s already set. Now you know where to find it.

Ready to book? Reserve a table at Jasmaine, Mellow, Mirchi or Enigma through our Restaurants & Club page — or book a room and let dinner be the easiest decision of your trip.
